ABOUT THE ARTIST
Gaye Ates was born in Erzincan, in 1977. In 2004, she graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Education, Painting Department, Major of Sculpture. In 2006, she graduated from Marmara University, Institute of Educational Sciences, Painting Department, Graduate Program with the thesis of “The role and importance of copper as a material”. In july 2004, she prepared a painting booklet for children and wrote the text of the introductory booklet about the history and culture of Midyat province which is the district of Mardin, Turkey. She continued her practices with the ZADRUGA workshop. Between 2005-2006, she worked as Art and Crafts Teacher in Emir Sencer Elementary School. In 2006, she participated workshops as an assistant at Devrim Erbil’s Atelier for 5 years. Since 2011, Gaye Ates continues her works in her atelier in Istanbul.
