ABOUT THE ARTIST
I'm a self-educated painter born in Istanbul. At a very early age, I met oil painting thanks to a painterly relative. One day, when I was just starting middle school, I came home, and I saw my dad on the wall of our gym, and I saw a big tulle and pinning my watercolor paintings on it. He said, "I've opened an exhibition for you." I never stopped painting again. My first solo exhibition took place in 2000 at the Turkish British Cultural Association in Ankara, and then at the end of the same year I had another personal exhibition at Istanbul Gallery Artist Çukurcuma. My paintings were used on sets of popular series such as "An Istanbul Tale" and "Rain Time". After these years, I changed my place of life and settled in the beautiful Aegean city, which caused my work to become more natural. It was impossible to be indifferent to the magical beauty of the Aegean. In my work since the past, nature has always taken its place in my picture, even in the background. Even though something completely different is happening up front, there's always nature in my background. My pitch/oil painting mixed technical sequence in the 2000s is all about nature being slaughtered by humans in a hobo, unconsciously, and for various interests. The series of 20 large paintings was the main theme of my exhibition at Gallery Artist. Today, nature remains the same importance in my paintings. In some of my paintings you can see that I cry for nature, and in others you can see my admiration for it. The pictures I'm making today are an aesthetic, beauty that's been going on almost my whole life, and it's a sequel to my efforts to be able to say something to this world in my own way.
