ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Ankara, Canan Oran worked as silk pentr lecturer at Vakko store in Ankara after graduating from the department of painting and graphics at Gazi University. She discovered Ottoman style ornament art while practicing Western style oil works and silk patterns. Her silk pentr works that were displayed on her first exhibition grabbed the attention of the audience. Her practice of silk pentr works turned into a passion and artist attended several solo and group exhibition in Ankara. Believing on “Beauties are hidden in detail” philosophy, she aimed to introduce and present the traditional Turkish arts to society as well as educate young people on those art practices.
She emphasized the reunification of gold and history with the use of melodious colors along with long and naive lines that came from past decades. Canan Oran worked on Ottoman ornament art for several years and held many exhibitions, especially during her 12 years of residence in Germany. She decorated hotels in Antalya and Alanya and she also completed the inner and outer Ottoman Ornament style decoration the Sumer Tilmac’s Artist Shelter in Serik, Antalya. Today, artist lives and continues her works in Antalya.
