ABOUT THE ARTIST
For years, Filiz Ural has worked on architectural drawings of residences, offices, quarters and stores. She has suppressed her passion to painting and fulfilled this gap by focusing on the details on the figures of architectural projects like streets, trees, vehicles and individuals.
After 25 years, Filiz Ural continued to work on her paintings and participated to several solo and group exhibitions as well as international exhibitions. In the last 7 years, her works were displayed at 7 solo exhibitions held by the galleries of Doku-Sanat in Ankara and Istanbul. In May 2011, artist attended Bienalİzmir and following that, she participated to the group exhibition at Galleria Pall Mall in London that hosted 30 artists from 14 countries. In this exhibition, Filiz Ural’s “İki Arşe” (Two Bow) painting made the cover of “Spirit of Art Returns to London” catalogue. In may 2012, Ural’s “Caz ve Yaz” (Jazz and Summer) solo exhibition was held at Maksut Varol Art Gallery and theme of artist’s new exhibition is about her passion again which is basically the people selling music; immigrant jazz artists, gypsys that play Swing, jazz artists of Nardis, young Czech jazz artists of Afyon Jazz Festival, Galata orchestras which were reacted by the community dwellers and her amateur musician friends also called as “Our Jazz Artists”.
