ABOUT THE ARTIST
Günay Kazçın was born in Trabzon in 1945. He began to practice art in Trabzon and continues in İzmir. He held 14 solo exhibitions and participated in 7 group exhibitions. In his paintings, where abstraction is a prominent element, the artist describes his works as follows: "When I start drawing the composition I have designed on paper, my pencil takes me into the depths of supernatural expressions, and my sketches take shape this way. I usually continue my works, which I create using oil and watercolor, in my studio in Urla."
"The world we see is a canvas painted by our perception; in invisible frequencies, colors unseen by the eye, melodies unheard by the ear, a universe in vibration, an energy-filled void, there is a silent yet immense movement. Humanity tries to understand this “invisible reality” sometimes through science, sometimes through art and intuition. This is my starting point. Perhaps most importantly: in the places where we cannot see or hear, there is not a “nothingness,” but a vast “ocean of consciousness.” And humans can navigate this ocean through meditation, artistic creation, music, intuition, dreams, and spiritual practice. That’s why artists (especially those who work abstractly) often “paint what they do not see, draw what they do not hear, feel what they do not know.”
