ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Aydın in 1981, Naciye Deniz Özdek is a mother of two, an entrepreneurial chemist, educator, painter, and color therapy practitioner. She has owned the Uzman Education Academy in Kuşadası for over 20 years. She also continues her artistic production in her personal studio, "Atelier Havana," and organizes workshops based on chemistry, color, and art. Seeing pencils and paper as a medium of expression since childhood, the artist primarily works with charcoal and figurative drawings. Her work, evolving from exploratory lines to simplified forms, has transformed into a unique narrative language where she transfers charcoal drawings onto canvas using acrylics. Frequently using neon colors in her work, Özdek consciously addresses the effect of color on emotions and the subconscious. Thanks to her scientific background, she studies the chemical, psychological, and sensory effects of colors, combining her painting practice with a color therapy approach. In the workshop formats she has developed, participants learn by experiencing the formation of pigments, the psychological equivalents of colors, and the transformation of emotions into visual language. Özdek's workshops; They are designed as experiential spaces that bring together art production, insight acquisition, and creativity in the same melting pot.
Between 1996 and 1999, she continued her drawing studies with Canan Beydemir; in later years, she received training in the studios of painter-academician Mete Sezgin and painter Ülkü Ünal. She continues to meet with Bedri Baykam and closely follows the contemporary art world. Naciye Deniz Özdek, who intertwines chemistry and art in her works and tells stories in her productions, has many works that are the embodiment of a song in her own inner world. With the vision of bringing art together with space, she implemented the first ArtCaravan project in Turkey; she established mobile art and color therapy workshops in different parts of the country. With these projects, she aims to bring art, science, and healing production into daily life.
