ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sevki Kose started his career as a cameraman in TRT, in 1993 after his undergraduate education in educational sciences. Although his profession is a branch of fine arts, his talents, interest and passion for nature have directed him to the art of wood carving, which he has been interested in since childhood.
During the 25-years of career as news cameraman, he witnessed thousands of people living in wars, earthquakes, triumphs and defeats in many countries. These faces scraped into the mind with pain, happiness, sadness, sorrow and countless expressions combined with the interest of the folk. He saw the reflections of the hundreds with such splendid tree fragments that the wind, the sea, the rocks had crumpled, shaped and distorted. He started to give them new forms.
In this exciting journey that began in 2006, he experimented different techniques in line with the trainings he received. In his workshop which he founded in 2010, he continues to work with various types of wood with the pieces he finds in the forest.
