ABOUT THE ARTIST
Sevda Uçan was born in Istanbul, in 1971. After completing her primary, middle and high school education in Istanbul, she started her painting life in Antalya by taking drawing lessons from Berna Özbakır. Later on, she continued to develop herself by attending oil painting classes in Izmir Balcova Public Education. Since 2010, she has been working with Elgül Unal and Güngör Ünal at Elçin Art Studio.
Sevda Uçan likes to use colors with her own interpretation by portraying photographs taken in the nature, she has started collecting a lot of wastes such as plastic, wire and rope that she saw in the environment. As a social responsibility project, she started to use them in her paintings. These materials, which began to appear in oil paintings on canvas, gradually came to life as part of their paintings and became a part of art instead of polluting the environment.
