In Costumes of Identity, each figure wears more than fabric. Dresses become masks; movement becomes a language of hesitation and self-definition. Though the figures stand side by side, each one carries a different emotional weight, a different version of herself.
This painting focuses on the female body as a space of transition. The softened, undefined background removes any sense of a fixed place, allowing the viewer to concentrate on the moment itself — the fragile pause between who we are and who we are becoming.
