As someone who has been living in Istanbul for half a century, it is impossible not to feel the sadness of witnessing the destruction of greenery and the transformation of the city into concrete. In this city of seven hills, which is the subject of stories and legends, whichever hill you climb and look across, despite the majestic stance of tens of centuries-old historical buildings, unfortunately, you see a silhouette stuck between concrete piles with very few green areas. Consisting of 12 separate works, the ‘Istanbul in my Dreams’ series is a series of imaginative journeys, each of which contains different stories, presented in a fairy tale and theatrical style, using panoramic landscapes reflecting the natural, historical and cultural texture of Istanbul, the city where I was born and grew up, with our cute animal friends as the main actors.
